AgronomE Cycle Weeder (Kolpe), a manually operated wheel-mounted farm tool designed for removing weeds and loosening soil between crop rows. Instead of repeatedly bending down with a traditional hand hoe, the operator can push the Cycle Weeder along the crop row while the working attachment cuts and disturbs weeds growing between plants. Its large 51 cm wheel helps the machine move through the field, while the lightweight approx. 7.5 kg construction makes it practical for regular farm use.

  • Vegetable crops
  • Other suitably spaced row crops
  • Intercultural operations between crop rows
  • Loosening surface soil between plants
  • Small and medium farm plots

How It Works

Position the Cycle Weeder between two crop rows and push the machine forward while maintaining a steady walking speed. The attached working blade or cultivator acts on the upper soil layer, cutting or uprooting small weeds and loosening the soil as the wheel moves forward.

For best results, intercultural weeding should be carried out while weeds are still relatively young and field conditions allow the tool to move freely between rows.

Benefits of Manual Inter-Row Weeding

  • Reduces dependence on repeated hand hoeing
  • Helps manage weeds growing between crop rows
  • Helps loosen surface soil during intercultural operations
  • No fuel, charging or electrical connection required
  • Lower maintenance than motorized weeding equipment
  • Suitable for plots where large machinery may not be practical
  • Reusable across multiple crop seasons with proper maintenance

Operating Tips

  1. Check that all nuts, bolts and attachments are properly secured before use.
  2. Select the appropriate working attachment according to row spacing and field requirement.
  3. Keep the machine centred between crop rows while operating.
  4. Maintain a steady forward movement for consistent weeding.
  5. Avoid allowing the blade to contact crop stems or roots.
  6. Remove accumulated soil and weeds from the working attachment periodically.

Care & Maintenance

  • Clean soil and plant residue from the machine after use.
  • Inspect blades and working attachments periodically.
  • Check nuts and bolts before each operation.
  • Lubricate the wheel hub periodically as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Store the machine in a dry and protected area when not in use.
